Different shapes and sizes

Tennis court has a fixed shape and size but the surface of the court differs from one place to another and the way of playing also changes with the change in the surface. Hard court

It is the most commonly used court. People playing in this type of court find it most easy in comparison to the other types. The surface is made up of cement or concrete or some other types of materials. After the preparation of the court the surface is rubberized and painted. Now why this is done so? Well, this is done in order to make it comfortable for the players and to make the ball bounce a bit. But the hard court is not the fastest of all the courts, yet it is faster than the clay court. Most of the games are played in the hard court and so it is considered to be the most popular type of court.

Clay court

The clay court is mainly made up of crushed stones and bricks and so the surface is soft. The color of the tennis court is almost same as that of sand and it might also be red or gray or green in color depending on the resources found there. The clay courts are slower than any other courts and playing in such type of courts is very difficult. When the clay court is being watered then it has to be dried out completely before starting the game. There are some players whose styles are the most favorable for the play in the clay court.

Grass court

The grass court is not seen much nowadays as the maintenance cost is very high. The grass court is the fastest court. The use of synthetic grass has enhanced the grass court.
